SING FOR THE MOMENT

*** $0UNd cHeCk ***

Sing... sing a song!! Make it simple to last Your whole life long....
Don't worry that it's not Good enough for anyone Else to hear Just sing.....sing a song !!

MY LIFE AS A LONG :)

Singing.... what more can i say about it?? Music is the calm of life.. the romance of love..
the serenity of JNC.. and the love of my life!!
The few pictures that you see above in a way summarizes my passion and my
favourite hobby. As most of my friends and relatives know, my aim is to become a
stupendous singer as well as a famous music director just like my role model,
A.R RAHMAN!! :)

As i go back in time, i still remember the first ever singing competiton that i won! I was 8 and i took part in an independence day best singer competition! The song i chose to sing still remains in the list of my all time favourites : " AYE MERE WATAN KE LOGON " !!
As a child, singing had always been my favourite hobby. Besides singing i loved mimicry as well.
If asked to, i could mimic many cartoon characters! :)

As years go by, i hear from a million relatives that it is very necessary to join singing classes and get trained in the field of classical music. I did join hindustani vocals at an institute called 'Rhythms" at Indiranagar but unfortunately had to discontinue few months later :(

In Bishop Cottons, i got selected for choir and that period was like a standstill when it came to my seriousness with singing as i was a basketball player for school as well. Very well known to be someone who is extra hyper and jumping around like a monkey and playing the fool almost all the time, basketball was my first priority and music came 2nd :(

THEN CAME.............. The best chapter of my life!! The reason for what i am today.. JNC!!!
I joined Jyothi Nivas College in the year 2006! So far, in my opinion i feel this is the best decision i had ever taken! JNC gave me the opportunity to take part in several fests and other competitions and also partially overcome my biggest terror : STAGE FRIGHT!! :'(
For two years, i was the lead singer of my Indian Music Team in the Pre-University College and i'm proud to say that i managed to win the love of many students in college!
As a girl with a huge inferiority complex, i sometimes find it very hard to believe that i finally have so many people who come upto me and say "heyy!! u were brilliant at the Josephs fest! You must try out for Indian Idol!! " :) :) :)

Also being a bit too gullible and a little overconfident about the comments i get after winning a competition, i did try my luck at the Indian Idol audition that came to Bangalore!
I was soooooooo happy to hear that i got selected through the phone audition round..
Then came the most fearful audition that i'd ever gone to.. The audition was held at PESIT engineering college and i got through the 1st round after singing my all-time famous award winning song: dil ko hazaar bar from the movie murder!
The sad news was i couldnt get through the secong round of audition as i was asked to sing a ghazal and i dint know one! :'(

That particular audition round became a turning point in my life as a singer...
I realised that my knowledge about music is not as large as i think it is!
I soon learnt how to play the piano as well as the guitar and i still am n the process of increasing my speed when it comes to reading chords while playing!

My role model- A.R RAHMAN.
My favourite singer-SHREYA GHOSHAL.
My favourite lyricist-PRASOON JOSHI.
Other music directors i admire-SHANKAR,EHSAAN N LOY! VISHAL AND SHEKAR and many more.
Other singers i worship-AMY LEE, AVRIL LAVIGNE, SUNIDHI CHAUHAN, MAHALAXMI IYER, SONU NIGAM, K.K, MOHIT CHAUHAN and several other bands!

My college life right now........
Never in class as i'm always busy with band practice or studio recording almost all throughout the year and i doubt most lecturers are aware of the reason for my long absence because their facial expressions when i greet them is usually that of "this girl is so going to end up with a huge shortage..how long does she think she can get away with bunking classes and having fun all the time!"

As i mentioned before, JNC has given me the best opportunities to showcase my talent and i might be boasting but in 3 years i feel proud to say that i won 44 certificates and trophies for my college! =)

Inspite of the depression i went through after getting rejected during the 2nd round of Indian Idol, i try to convince myself to move on with my singing and work hard by 1st finding a good teacher who can train me in both classical as well as western because as of now in JNC, i belong to 3 music teams: the indian music team, the choir as well as the western acoustics band!

I also feel proud by saying that our college band this year, after all the classes that we missed for singing, made the best use of our talent. All the awards that we won all through this year was finally recognised by a music director who gave us a chance to use his own studio "FURTADOS" to record our own album !!!!!!!!!!!!! As a band, we initially named ourselves "SOUNDCHECK" at a state level competition at Vellore! Now we are still in the process of coming up with the perfect name for our band which consists of - salome, shobha, caroline, monisha, shalini, shreyanka and meee =)

At fests.............. We go on stage with one simple thought in our minds.. "if we dont come 1st, we're the biggest losers". Although this does sound bad, thats not exactly how i'd describe our attitudes at all! We sometimes tend to get discouraged when we lose to the teams from Christ university or Mount Carmels! :( But nevertheless, we still keep trying and having fun on stage as we perform because thats what we're best at!! When i tend to get discouraged after losing a competition, i always have my best friends by my side who still think i'm the best and the most versatile singer and my confience always gets boosted up by them!! =)

Today, i feel overwhelmed to say that i finally got a chance to sing for a movie and day by day i get to learn more about music from my director, Prahlad Prasad who is from CKP: ChitraKala Parishad!!!

This is a jist of my musical life and i really hope for it to be this way forever!!! :)
